Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone

Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century youth facility at the heart of Blackburn, open to young people aged 5 to 25. Our aim is to transform the opportunities available to young people by providing “somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.” Our £5 million, state-of-the-art building offers a safe and inspiring space where young people can build confidence, develop skills and form positive relationships. Everything we do is shaped in partnership with young people, not on their behalf — we start where young people are and go where they take us. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Whether you’re supporting sessions, building positive relationships or simply being a consistent, trusted adult, you play a vital role in helping young people thrive. We welcome volunteers aged 18 and over from all backgrounds. You don’t need prior youth work experience — what matters most is being approachable, reliable and committed. Key qualities include: Strong communication skills A positive and inclusive attitude Reliability and consistency The ability to build appropriate, professional relationships with young people All volunteers are required to complete an enhanced DBS check and take part in our onboarding and training process to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our young people. By volunteering with us, you’ll not only support young people to reach their potential, but also gain valuable experience, develop new skills and be part of a supportive and welcoming community.
