Summer Reading Challenge

Help children age 4-11 sign up for the challenge, choose books and collect stickers and prizes to have fun and keep their reading skills sharp during the long summer break. Each summer we sign up more than 1,000 local children to take part in the challenge, but we can only do this with YOUR help. The challenge runs throughout July, August and September (but with the emphasis on the school holiday weeks) and the hours are flexible, so you can offer as much or as little time as you feel able within regular library opening hours. There may also be the opportunity to assist with children's craft activities and other events during the holidays as well, for candidates with an interest in taking part in these. You can volunteer for the day or just a few hours.
